Mechanical Design to support existing and future product developments

Purpose of the role

This is a product design role which requires a highly skilled and motivated Engineer, who will be providing mechanical engineering support for a range of RF products

Line Management


Duties and responsibilities

  • Mechanical Engineering and Design of mechanical components for new and innovative RF products.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing documentation – 3D models, drawings, BOMs, work instructions.
  • Interact with other development team members, RF/ electrical and software engineering, NPI and operations/ production engineering
  • Produce and maintain mechanical test documentation associated with products, including specifications, test schedules and compliance matrices
  • Carry out testing duties where appropriate (including environmental testing).
  • Perform technical investigations to provide data for problem assessment, design improvements and support development of solutions to technical issues.
  • Support re-designs of existing products in the company’s portfolio.
  • Carry out design reviews and contribute to documenting progress for key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the transfer of new products from development into mass-production.
  • Interact with third parties (customers, suppliers and manufacturing partners) to understand needs and relay capabilities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of designing mechanical components using Solidworks or similar 3D design system (i.e. Pro/Engineer).
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes for medium and high volume production i.e. die casting, stamping, pressing, plastic injection moulding.
  • Good knowledge of using simulation tools for structural and thermal FEA analysis of mechanical components.
  • Ability to perform basic hand calculations in support of structural and thermal design of components.
  • Has a degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Good understanding of prototyping processes i.e.  SLA, SLS, FDM, NC Machining.
