Scope

RF Design to support future product developments

Purpose of the role

This is a product design role which requires a highly skilled and motivated Engineer, who will be designing RF products at board level.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Design new and innovative RF products at board level with minimum supervision 
  • Interact with other development team members, mechanical and software engineering and operations engineering to ensure the requirements of the complete product life-cycle are met
  • Produce and maintain test documentation associated with products, including specifications, test schedules and compliance matrices
  • Carry out testing duties (including environmental testing)
  • Perform technical investigations to provide data for problem assessment, design improvements and support development of solutions to technical issues
  • Support re-designs of existing product in the company’s portfolio
  • Carry out design reviews and contribute to documenting progress for key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the transfer of new products from development into mass-production.
  • Interact with third parties (customers, suppliers and manufacturing partners) to understand needs and relay capabilities

The ideal candidate

  • Track record of designing RF products at board level with minimum supervision.
  • Develops and refines new skills rapidly, be a good team player, enthusiastic, and willing to share information with and learn from peers.
  • Demonstrates ability to work to tight timescales and have a proven track record of delivering innovative products on time, within budget and to specification.
  • Experience of using CAD simulation tools including AWR Microwave Office, CST Microwave Studio, combined with the layout of complex RF PCBs and generation of related schematic and other manufacturing documentation is essential.
  • Has a degree or higher qualification in Electronic Engineering and practical design experience in RF and electronic design.
  • RF system design: link & power budgets, noise figure and intermodulation analysis, implementation loss.
  • RF circuit design: LNA/ RF amplifiers, oscillator / PLL, power amplifiers, RF mixers, lumped-element / printed RF filters / diplexers, waveguide structures.
  • RF test and measurement: network and spectrum analysis.
  • Background in consumer electronics / design for mass production
